Joining the ATC
If you are in the 13-17 age group you may join the Air Training Corps. Cadet entrants spend approximately three months as “probationers” during which time they are given basic training in such subjects as The History of the RAF, Drill, Map Reading and Basic Radio Procedures. By the time they “pass out” to join their allotted flight they are ready to participate fully in the squadron’s activities and hopefully progress through the ranks.
Some cadets go on to join the Air Force or other forces. The ATC is basically a great way to meet new friends, have fun, action and adventure!
223 Squadron
223 Halesowen Squadron Air Training Corps is a small and friendly squadron based at our own HQ In King Street, Halesowen. The ATC is an organisation for girls and boys of 13 years old an over. Our cadets come from Halesowen and the surrounding area. On parade nights most of our activities take place in our H.Q. building or the surrounding area. Our squadron motto is ‘Never Say Never’ – we always compete aiming to win and be the best! Despite our small size we are very successful at sports and other activities, we have cadets representing our wing for sports.
