Joining the ATC
If you are in the 13-17 age group you may join the Air Training Corps. Cadet entrants spend approximately three months as “probationers” during which time they are given basic training in such subjects as The History of the RAF, Drill, Map Reading and Basic Radio Procedures. By the time they “pass out” to join their allotted flight they are ready to participate fully in the squadron’s activities and hopefully progress through the ranks.
Some cadets go on to join the Air Force or other forces. The ATC is basically a great way to meet new friends, have fun, action and adventure!
One of the aims of this website is to inspire you to join the ATC either as a cadet or perhaps as an adult volunteer. You will find links to many interesting pages that aim to show you what it is like to be part of the Air Training Corps. As well as browsing the pages on our site you can find out a lot about the ATC by visiting the official Air Cadets website.
